SEO Meta & SERP Preview Checker
See how a page will look in Google and on social media, and fix the tags that hold it back.
What this tool checks
- Title and meta description length, with an estimate of the pixel width Google displays
- Canonical URL, robots meta tag and X-Robots-Tag header
- Open Graph and X (Twitter) tags, with social card previews
- H1 and heading outline, hreflang, JSON-LD types and images missing alt text
Good to know
The checker reads the HTML your server sends, without running JavaScript, the way search engines first see it. Tags added only by JavaScript won't show. Pixel widths are estimates; Google may also rewrite titles and descriptions.
No email wall: run as many checks as you like. The server-based tools only read public pages, the same way a browser or search engine does.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a title tag and meta description be?
Google truncates by width, not character count: roughly 600 pixels for titles on desktop, which is about 50–60 characters, and around two lines for descriptions (about 120–155 characters). The checker estimates the pixel width so you can see where the cut-off falls.
Why does Google show a different title or description from mine?
Google rewrites titles and snippets when it thinks something else on the page better matches the search, or when yours is missing, too long or stuffed with keywords. A concise, accurate title and description that match the page content are rewritten less often.
What is a canonical URL?
It is the version of a page you want search engines to index when the same content is reachable at several addresses (with tracking parameters, with or without "www", and so on). Most pages should have a canonical that points to themselves.
Why doesn't my LinkedIn or Facebook preview update?
Social networks cache link previews. After fixing your Open Graph tags, use LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Meta's Sharing Debugger to make them fetch the page again.
