What this tool checks

  • Presets for Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads and email newsletters
  • Normalises values (lower case, spaces replaced) so reports don't split
  • Shows the GA4 channel the link is likely to be reported under
  • Copy button, QR code, and your recent links saved in this browser only

Good to know

Everything runs in your browser; links are never sent to our server. The channel preview is a simplified version of GA4's default channel grouping, so treat it as a guide.

No email wall: run as many checks as you like. The server-based tools only read public pages, the same way a browser or search engine does.

Frequently asked questions

Which UTM parameters do I need?

utm_source (where the traffic comes from, e.g. linkedin) and utm_medium (the type of traffic, e.g. paid_social) are the essentials, and utm_campaign is strongly recommended. utm_term and utm_content are optional, for keywords and for telling ads or links apart.

Should I add UTMs to Google Ads links?

If Google Ads auto-tagging is on, Google Analytics already attributes those clicks through the gclid parameter. Manual UTMs are still useful for CRMs and other analytics tools; they can be used alongside auto-tagging.

Why do my campaigns show up as "Unassigned" or split in GA4?

GA4 groups traffic into channels using the source and medium values. Unrecognised mediums (like "post" or "promo") end up Unassigned, and values are case-sensitive, so "Email" and "email" are separate rows. Pick a naming convention and stick to it.

Can I use UTM links on my own website?

It's best not to. UTMs on internal links replace the visitor's original source (the ad or email that brought them) with your own campaign values, which breaks attribution. Use them only on links from outside your site.
